Deriving lessons from the life of Mary by Tobbie

Mary was a young virgin,who became the wife of Joseph,she miraculously gave birth to Jesus while she was engaged to Joseph.

QUALITIES OF MARY.

1. She was ready to work for God. Lk1:38
2. She was holy Lk 1:35.
3. She was humble Lk 1: 42-43.
4. She was full of God’s word Lk 1: 41, Lk 1: 50-55.
5. She was a woman of faith Lk 1: 45
6. She was a woman of vision Lk 1:48.
7. She was obedient Lk 2: 27 and 39.
8. She was an observant woman Lk 2:19 and 51.

LESSONS TO BE LEARNT FROM MARY.

1. Mary was a virgin till she got married. As christian sisters,we must keep ourselves for our future husbands. The act of keeping ourselves is important to our partners and God.
2. Mary allowed herself to be used by God. As christian sisters, we must be ready to work for God. We have been created for a particular purpose. Mary was called to be the mother of our Lord(Jesus Christ) and she obeyed.
3. Mary was a woman of courage: This can be seen when Joseph wanted to break his engagement with her. She stood her ground and fixed her eyes on God.
4. Mary was contented with what she had Lk 2:12.
   When Jesus Christ was born, he was laid in a manger – an open box,which holds feeds(food) for livestock and was wrapped in a blanket.
   As christian sisters, we must be contended with whatever we have. I guess that if a christian sister was told that she will be the mother of Jesus Christ, she will want to give birth in abroad or one of the best hospitals in the world, despite the fact that the means is not available.
5. Mary was humble Lk 1: 48. We must be humble as christian sisters at home,in church, at work or anywhere we find ourselves.
   I doubt if some sisters were in the position of Mary. Nobody will be able to relate or talk to them again.
6. Mary was a woman of faith Lk1 : 31-37. When the angel told her all things which has never happened before. She believed. As christian sisters, we must have faith in God, no matter the circumstances or challenges.
7. Mary had an in-depth knowledge of God’s word. As christian sisters, we must have the right knowledge of God, and this can only be possible when we read,meditate and practice the word of God.

MARY’S WEAKNESS

1. LK 2: 41-46. When we get married and start having children. Let’s be careful and watch out for our children.
2. John 2:1-4. Let’s avoid displaying our children skills, intellects e.t.c unnecessarily to our friends, neighbours. We don’t know who is not happy with us or our children.
