I respect and honour everyone that spoke about Christmas and other celebration days in honour of Jesus. It shows that they are proofs
of a well inclined clergymen/persons in theology and biblical history.
But we need to be careful not to be guilty of Matthew 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
This shenanigans of venting anger towards each other as a fellow Christian should be disdained. Even if history and proofs makes it clear that its origin is idolatry. Numenclature of events, programs or group doesn’t concern God, provided it is to reference God.
Let us now examine this in the light of God’s word and stop this misunderstanding amongst us.
Romans 14:6a (I will read it in NIV version with simple explanations in bracket)
“Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord (if you like call it Christmas, Sabbath, Easter, Holy day, Pentecost, Revival, Lord’s supper e.tc). Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. (If you like say No to Christmas, Sabbath, Easter, Holy day, Pentecost, Revival, Lord’s supper e.tc”
Provided it is to reference God and God is the center of it all, Praise God. But if that day is an avenue to sin while others regards it to the Lord, get ready to face the fierce anger of God.
Mind you, anything you exalt above God is idolatry, hence the Bible says our God is a jealous God (Exodus 20:25)
So to curtail being found faulty of idol worship either proven by history or not, some denominations chose not to observe Christmas and other days, however, we are not to judge. Let us maintain love among ourselves and join hands to propagate the kingdom of God, bearing in mind that it is our major assignment.
