In a rare and intimate interview, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), shares insights into his daily life, his spiritual practices, and the global influence of his ministry. From his morning routine to his thoughts on marriage and prayer, Dr. Olukoya reveals the principles that guide his personal and ministerial journey.
Interviewer: Dr. Olukoya, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. Could you start by sharing what a typical day looks like for you?
Dr. Olukoya: Thank you. My day begins with quiet time, a practice we teach every Christian to observe. It’s essential to start the morning with praise to God, prayer, Bible reading, and meditation before diving into other activities. It’s not just a routine; it’s a lifestyle for anyone serious about their walk with God.
Interviewer: Beyond ministry, what do you do in your leisure time?
Dr. Olukoya: My primary occupation is the work of God, but in my leisure, I enjoy reading and listening to music. I also create music, which you might have seen during our music seminars. It’s a way for me to relax and connect with another form of worship.
Interviewer: Balancing ministry and personal life is often a topic of discussion. How do you approach this?
Dr. Olukoya: I believe it’s not about balance but understanding. When both husband and wife understand their calling, they prioritize it together. It’s about knowing why God brought you into the world and pursuing that purpose wholeheartedly. When that understanding is clear, there’s no need to debate balancing various aspects of life—it all aligns naturally.
Interviewer: MFM has had a significant global impact, especially in the realm of prayer. Can you talk about that?
Dr. Olukoya: One of our landmark achievements is changing the global prayer atmosphere. Whether people acknowledge it or not, the prayer temperature of the world has shifted. For instance, a woman in Puerto Rico recently reached out after reading my book, Deliverance from Marine Powers. She had lost her husband at sea, and through prayer, she found hope and intervention.
Similarly, MFM’s prayer influence is felt worldwide. Even in places like Moscow, people encounter our prayer materials. The global reach of our ministry demonstrates the transformative power of prayer, which we emphasize as the key to everything.
Interviewer: You’ve often spoken about the importance of fasting and prayer. Why do you believe they are so crucial?
Dr. Olukoya: Prayer and fasting are essential because they align us with God’s will. Fasting doesn’t change God—it changes us. It helps subdue the flesh and heighten spiritual sensitivity. Every saint in the Bible fasted, including Jesus. Through fasting, we teach people to focus on their spiritual growth and deepen their connection with God.
Interviewer: MFM has a strong emphasis on holiness and youth engagement. How do you maintain relevance with younger generations?
Dr. Olukoya: We remain committed to our foundational principles: holiness, discipline, and destiny fulfillment. At the same time, we engage the youth through various programs designed to bring them closer to Christ. The truth is, anyone dedicated to prayer and the Word will always be relevant. Prayer is the one thing the devil cannot counterfeit, making it the cornerstone of our ministry.
Interviewer: Lastly, what’s your message to Christians looking to strengthen their faith?
Dr. Olukoya: Jesus taught us to always pray and never give up. Prayer is the lifeline of every believer. It sustains us, empowers us, and keeps us connected to God’s purpose. Through prayer, fasting, and holiness, we can overcome challenges and fulfill our destiny.
Dr. Olukoya’s life and ministry exemplify the transformative power of faith, prayer, and understanding one’s purpose. His insights continue to inspire millions worldwide, reaffirming the relevance and impact of a life dedicated to God.
