Host: Welcome back, friends, to another uplifting episode. Today, we are honored to have a very special guest with us, all the way from Nigeria—Pastor William Kumuyi! A man whose obedience to God transformed a small Bible study group into one of the largest congregations in the world. Pastor Kumuyi, it’s such a privilege to have you here.
Pastor Kumuyi: Thank you so much. I am deeply honored to be here and to share what God has done.
The Humble Beginnings
Host: Pastor Kumuyi, let’s start from the beginning. It’s remarkable to think that all this started with just 15 people. Could you have ever imagined where God would take your ministry?
Pastor Kumuyi: Honestly, no. When I gave my life to Christ on April 5, 1964, at the age of 23, my focus was simply to follow Jesus. Soon after, I felt a burden for young people to come to know Him as their personal Savior.
While working as a professor of mathematics at the University of Lagos in 1973, I began a small Bible study with just 15 math students. My goal was to teach the Word of God and help them grow spiritually. But as we remained faithful, God multiplied the work.
God’s Expansion Plan
Host: From 15 students to over 120,000 members in your Lagos congregation alone! What do you believe was the turning point?
Pastor Kumuyi: The turning point was when God laid it on my heart to move from being just a Bible study group to a church-based ministry. That was in November 1982. By that time, we had grown significantly, and starting Sunday worship was the next step.
It wasn’t easy, but God kept adding to our numbers. Today, the Deeper Christian Life Ministry has expanded to over 50 African countries and beyond. It’s truly God’s work.
Miracles in Ministry
Host: Your ministry has also been marked by miracles. Can you share some recent testimonies of God’s power?
Pastor Kumuyi: Certainly. About three years ago, we started the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK), which has reached major cities in Nigeria, West Africa, India, and the Philippines. During these crusades, we preach Christ as Savior, and God confirms His Word with signs and wonders.
We’ve seen blind eyes opened, deaf ears unstopped, the lame walking, and even the dead raised to life. These miracles are not confined to the crusade grounds; we receive testimonies from people watching online in over 180 countries.
A Call to Salvation
Host: That’s incredible, Pastor. You’ve led countless altar calls. Would you lead one now for our global audience?
Pastor Kumuyi: Absolutely. To everyone watching, Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. He has already paid the price for your sins. All you need to do is accept Him as your Lord and Savior.
