Text: Proverbs 18:21 – “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
Words are powerful. They carry the creative and destructive potential that can shape destinies, build or break lives, and open or close doors. Every word released into the atmosphere has spiritual energy — whether for good or for evil. Evil pronouncements, therefore, are not just empty statements; they are spiritual arrows meant to sow destruction, delay, confusion, and bondage.
But thanks be to God — there is freedom in Christ! The Word of God gives us clear steps to break free from every evil word spoken over our lives, knowingly or unknowingly.
How to Break Free from Evil Pronouncements
1. Confess Your Sins
Before deliverance can be complete, sin must be addressed. Sin opens the door for the enemy to have a legal right to afflict a person. When we confess our sins, we disarm the devil of his accusations.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9
Repentance is the first step toward freedom. It is not just saying “I’m sorry,” but turning completely away from anything that displeases God.
2. Submit Yourself to Deliverance
Deliverance is not just a practice — it is an encounter with the power of God to destroy yokes and break strongholds.
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations…” – 2 Corinthians 10:4–5
Through anointed prayers, fasting, and the laying on of hands, the power of the Holy Spirit uproots every evil decree operating in your life. Don’t resist divine help — submit to God’s process of liberation.
3. Replace Evil Words with God’s Word
Every evil pronouncement must be countered with a divine declaration. God’s Word is a superior law that nullifies every negative utterance.
“Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.” – Psalm 91:3
Speak God’s promises boldly. Declare healing where sickness was spoken, success where failure was declared, and life where death was pronounced. The Word of God is living, active, and able to rewrite your destiny.
How to Protect Yourself from Evil Pronouncements
4. Command Your Morning
Each day begins with a spiritual transaction. Do not step into your day without speaking into it. Command your morning with fire — declare blessings, protection, and favor over your path.
“Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place?” – Job 38:12
Rebuild and maintain your altar of prayer. When your altar is on fire, no evil word can prevail over you.
5. Live a Life of Righteousness
Righteous living is a shield. The devil cannot easily penetrate a life that is submitted to God’s will.
“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” – James 5:16
When you live in obedience, you dwell under divine covering — and every curse or evil word spoken against you will backfire.
6. Watch Your Words
Many people destroy themselves with their own tongues. Don’t speak carelessly. Your words create your world.
“Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.” – Proverbs 21:23
Speak faith, hope, and life into your destiny. Even when things look contrary, let your confession align with what God says.
7. Engage in Warfare Prayer
The Bible warns that our adversary, the devil, walks about seeking whom he may devour. That means every believer must remain alert and spiritually aggressive.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about… Whom resist steadfast in the faith.” – 1 Peter 5:8–9
Warfare prayers are not ordinary prayers — they are battles of decrees and declarations. Through them, you destroy satanic verdicts and enforce divine judgment against every evil voice.
8. Make the Holy Spirit Your Partner
The Holy Spirit is your greatest ally in spiritual warfare. He gives discernment to detect hidden attacks and empowers your words with divine fire. When you partner with Him, no evil pronouncement can stand against you.
“When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” – Isaiah 59:19
Walk with the Holy Spirit daily. Listen to His guidance, obey His promptings, and let Him fill your mouth with victorious declarations.
Conclusion
Child of God, the power of life and death truly lies in the tongue. Don’t allow evil pronouncements to dictate your destiny. Rise up in faith, break their hold through the Word, and continually protect yourself with righteousness and prayer. Remember: the Word you speak becomes the world you live in.
Prayer:
“Father, in the name of Jesus, I break every evil pronouncement over my life, family, and destiny. I decree that only Your Word shall prevail in my life. From today, I command my morning and walk in divine protection, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.”
