Years ago, in Ghana, a mother brought her young son to Dr. Daniel Olukoya, desperate for help. Her child suffered from epilepsy—but this was no ordinary affliction. The seizures only struck during one particular activity: exams. The boy could run, jump, eat, and sleep without issue, but as soon as he sat for an exam, the epilepsy would manifest. It was as though the infirmity had a mind of its own, attacking at the most critical moments.
“It’s such a strange infirmity,” Dr. Olukoya thought as the mother tearfully recounted the story. The timing of the episodes was no coincidence—it felt deliberate, calculated, and malevolent.
The Chain of Bondage
As Dr. Olukoya prepared to pray for the boy, something caught his eye. Around the child’s neck was a chain—a simple necklace with a pendant. He felt an unease that couldn’t be ignored. Turning to the mother, he asked, “What is this chain?”
The woman hesitated, her voice trembling. “It’s something a native doctor gave him when he was very small. He said we must never remove it, or the boy would die.”
Dr. Olukoya’s heart sank. He had seen this before—objects given under the guise of protection but carrying spiritual bondage. Calmly but firmly, he said, “Take it off.”
The mother recoiled. “No! I can’t. He will die!”
“Take it off,” Dr. Olukoya repeated.
When the woman refused again, Dr. Olukoya stepped back. “If you won’t remove it, I cannot pray for him. I’m sorry.”
As the mother tried to leave with her son, pastors nearby intervened, urging her to listen to the man of God. Reluctantly, she agreed to remove the chain.
Unveiling the Pendant’s Secret
Dr. Olukoya examined the necklace closely. The pendant hanging from it was small, heart-shaped, and seemingly innocuous. But he knew better. Handing it to one of the pastors, he instructed, “Break it open.”
The pastor carefully opened the pendant. Inside, written in small, sinister letters, were the words: “I love Satan.”
The room fell silent. The chain that the boy had worn for years wasn’t just a trinket—it was a declaration of allegiance to darkness, placed there in ignorance by those who sought to protect him.
Breaking the Bondage
Dr. Olukoya wasted no time. With authority, he began to pray. “Anything your ignorant parents have put on you in their lack of understanding, anything that has handed you over to satanic forces, be destroyed in the name of Jesus!”
As he prayed, the atmosphere shifted. The power of God filled the room, and the boy was delivered from his strange infirmity.
The boy stood there, free at last from the bondage that had plagued him for so long.
A Message of Hope
Dr. Olukoya’s encounter with the boy and his mother served as a powerful reminder of the dangers of spiritual ignorance. “Many people unknowingly carry symbols of bondage, thinking they are tokens of protection,” he later reflected. “But God’s power is greater than any chain of darkness.”
Through faith and the breaking of spiritual yokes, the boy’s life was transformed. And for all who heard this, it was a call to seek true deliverance in Christ, the ultimate chain-breaker.
